Is your water making you sick?

How can water make you sick?  I've always thought as long as I drink water I'm staying healthy.  What I'm talking about is the QUALITY of your water.  I thought I'd test out my local tap water and some of the commonly found bottled waters.  What I hoped to find in my experiment was the pH of my tap water and bottled waters; hoping they'd be 7 (neutral) or higher.  Guess what I found?!
The video post is not working at the moment and I don't want to delay so if you'd like to view it click here to link to our Facebook page.
I know it's hard to see... working left to right.

The first 3 are purified drinking waters (Dasani, Aquafina and Fresh Thyme (a local market)).
Smart Water is vapor distilled with electrolytes added.
Evian is natural spring water.
Fiji is natural artesian water from Fiji.
The first glass is my tap water through an alkaline filter.
The last is Chicago (Lake Michigan) tap water.
I didn't put them in any particular order on purpose, this is just how it worked out.
Here is the pH guide I was working with (from the drops).

The Results:
DASANI - yellow (pH 3)
Aquafina - yellow (pH 3)
Fresh Thyme - yellow (pH 3)
Smart Water - light green (pH 6)?  *Apologize in the video I thought it may be a 7*
Evian - light blue (pH 8)
FIJI - light blue (pH 8)
My tap through alkaline filter - blue (pH 8.5)?
Chicago tap - started as blue like Evian and Fiji... turned to pale yellow... (pH 3)
You don't have to drink alkaline water.  There is a lot of controversy out there as to whether or not it is beneficial to your health.

For me, I've found that having some of it along with "regular" water (which I was hoping was pH 7) is a good balance!
Why alkaline anyway?  So many people are eating such a high quantity of highly processed foods that their bodies are more acidic.  Having some alkaline water can help balance that out so to speak.
You DO have to be careful not to mess with your digestive system though... if you drink TOO much alkaline water then you may lower the acids levels that help you digest.
If you are going to incorporate alkaline water try not to have it 20 - 30 minutes before you eat, definitely not with your meals, and wait a couple of hours after a meal.  Obviously have all the water you want around mealtimes, just not necessarily alkaline.  I find that having it in the evening or early in the morning is best for me.

I hope this will prompt you to check your local tap water or bottled water and if it's not neutral that you'll try to find a more neutral alternative for your daily consumption.

Never in a million years would I have thought that the water I drink could interfere so much in my digestion. Thank you for the interesting facts!
