Over the past couple of days I was thinking of sharing a few easy ways you can make your water more alkaline besides using an alkalizing water filter. Well, great minds think alike! A huge THANK YOU to Julie from Ciao! Cafe & Wine Bar for the article, and affirming that I should send these tips. :) Ok, ready for those tips & article?!

Three Tips to Make Your Water More Alkaline: 1. Baking Soda - (extremely alkaline). Add 1/2 teaspoon to one gallon of water. Shake well to dissolve the baking soda. 2. Lemons - (acidic). Although acidic, once ingested the water will become alkaline during the digestive process. Use FRESH lemons (not lemon juice). About 1/2 lemon (@1oz) per 8-12 oz of water. You can dilute to your own liking. If you weigh over 150 lbs you can consume double the amount, however, our bodies apparently cannot metabolize over 12 ounces of water at a time so if you're doubling, drink 12 oz at a time. *Do not cut lemons more than 30 minutes prior to adding to your water. 3. pH Balancing Drops ** - use the amount of drops directed per packaging. These drops help alkalize your water. Click here and here for examples of these drops. ** Please note the pH balancing drops mentioned above and on links below are not the same as the drops you use to TEST the pH of your drinking water. Additional Tips: *Purify your water first (get rid of toxins). *Test pH after filtering to determine your baseline. *After making alkaline with one of these methods, test it again to see how alkaline it has become (obviously not the lemon water). *Drinking too much lemon water too quickly can make the extra detox a bit hard on your body and you may experience headaches, tiredness or bowel changes. You can also add the juice from a fresh lemon to hot water, maybe some of you have seen this as a detox method first thing in the morning? This will alkalize your water as well. I tried doing this in place of my coffee in the mornings and I could not stick to it. Since I didn't want to keep having spoiled lemons around my place that's why I opt for the alkaline water pitcher. Let me know if you've tried any of these or comment once you do! Tita P.S.
