I've been meaning to post about Milkadamia macadamia milk for a VERY long time. I know what you're thinking... another nut milk?! There are so many dairy free alternatives in the milk aisle and here I am throwing another one in the mix... so why dairy free, what's so special about this one and where can you find it?
I started actively searching for and trying dairy free milk alternatives about nine years ago. Although I have never really been a milk lover, I still need it for cereal and for those times when a cappuccino or mocha are a necessity. ;)
One of the main reasons I don't drink milk is it always sits heavy in my stomach and being such a huge coffee lover I need to have an occasional treat! By omitting milk I have also seen improvements in my complexion, (less redness), and as one of my good friends shared, (thank you Debbie), I'm less prone to mucus/phlegm. That's because the casein in milk helps you secrete mucus. Now that I've put it out there, maybe you will notice it too. Initially, I preferred almond milk, but still hated the bitter aftertaste and grittiness. Coconut milk has been my go to since most places don't have macadamia milk. Shout out to Doughnut Vault here in Chicago... the first shop I've EVER been to that offers macadamia milk! I have yet to try their old fashioned doughnuts... So, how did I find this magical milk? ;) Last May I attended a Natural & Healthy Expo in Chicago and I tried a cappuccino with Milkadamia. I was so surprised and impressed with the consistency and the almost non-existent aftertaste. I was elated to have stumbled upon this discovery and couldn't wait to go home and buy it! What products do they offer? They have Original, Unsweetened, Latte Da (for baristas, but available on Amazon) and they just launched an Unsweetened Vanilla which I haven't tried yet. These are gluten free, vegan, dairy free and non GMO! The Original and Latte Da have 70 calories per 8 oz serving (40 calories from fat). The Unsweetened and Unsweetened Vanilla have 50 calories per 8 oz (40 calories from fat). Unsweetened, Unsweetened Vanilla and Original all have Vitamins A, B12, D, Iron and Calcium as follows: Vitamin A: 10% Vitamin B12: 50% Vitamin D: 25% Iron: 2% Calcium: 45% Latte Da (the one for baristas) has 30% Calcium but none of the other vitamins or minerals. All have 1 g of protein which is the same as other nut milks. They come in a 32 oz carton and I've found them at stores for $3.99. Not cheap, but for my coffee treats, it's worth it. Where do I find it? Finding it in stores has been a bit of a challenge, depending on where you live. I'm hoping by posting about it more people will want to try it and maybe request it at your local grocery stores. Maybe the price will eventually drop... wishful thinking! When I was living in Maryland they started carrying it at Wegmans (since last winter). Here in Chicago, I've found it at Whole Foods and they are also listed as available at Jewel stores. To find store locations click here and to learn more about Milkadamia visit their site here. In case they don't have it at a store near you, I've placed a link on my shopping/resources page (through Amazon). Click here to go to there or you can click on the images below. The most cost effective I found through Amazon is a 6 pack and they only have that price for Unsweetened and Latte Da. Do you have a favorite milk alternative? I'd love to hear yours! I hope you'll try Milkadamia and please share your opinion or where you've found it at retail stores by posting a comment below! Hi Tita! Macadamia milk sounds interesting and if I ever come across it in the store I might just pick it up! Almond milk is my go to but I also love cashew milk. Roberto and I also found Ripple, pea milk, as a possible nut free milk sub for Ezra. I'm not too crazy about it though and Roberto thinks it tastes ok.

Hi Monica! Thanks for your comment! I have tried Ripple's pea protein milk. For me it tastes a bit too "chalky" but it is packed with protein so I could see it being a great addition to shakes/smoothies. Would love to hear if you come across Milkadamia and what you think! At my local WF it's in the aisle with the other milks, not in the refrigerated section yet. Keep me posted!

Just saw this at Whole Foods and wondered if this was the brand you were talking about! I’m going to buy some next time I’m there!

Interesting. I'm always looking for an alternative since my youngest son is allergic to milk.
